0 A.D. is now the Sourceforge project of the month.

Posted in:Games

After an epic battle with Newscoop who was also a pretty good contender, 0 A.D. took the spot by just 3 votes!!. This victory means that 0A.D. is going to be featured on the Sourceforge mailing list. The developers are planning to utilize the highter visibility achieved through this victory to speed up the game's development by reaching out to a larger audience and attracting more developers from the FOSS community.

0 A.D. is getting nearer to perfection everyday thanks to the efforts of Wildfire Games and their active fanbase. For those of you who have yet to hear about 0 A.D. check out our review of the game when it was released almost a year back. To be frank the game really blew us off our feet then and it is still doing that. As with every release, 0 A.D. brings out many notable improvements. Check out the video to see them.

What are the notable improvements?

Apart from the tech and bling upgrades the one feature that grabbed our sights was that they seem to have remembered the Indian civilization which was pretty much ignored by the AOE frachise (the inspiration for 0 A.D.) and going to the extent to name this release "Jhelum" which is a famous river in Punjab, a place in India and the site of a great battle in which an Indian king - Chandragupta Maurya fought Alexander the great himself. (Yeah. the game is good for learning a bit of history too!). Additionally they have included maps related to Punjab in this release which we think is pretty slick.

They need your help.
